How customers agree to texts from AUUL

Advanced Underground Utility Locating Inc. (AUUL) · Last updated October 3, 2026

AUUL texts customers about the utility locating jobs they schedule with us: appointment confirmations and reminders, schedule changes, on-the-way updates from our crew, and billing notices. Texts come from (509) 355-9337. Nobody gets a text from us until they agree in one of the four ways below. Every checkbox is optional and never ticked for the customer, and consent is not a condition of purchase.

(a) Web sign-up form

Public page: https://fieldops.auulinc.com/text-updates. It is linked from the footer of every page of our website, auulinc.com ("Get Text Updates"), and the office sends the link to customers who ask for text updates. The customer enters their name and mobile number (a job address or invoice number is optional) and must tick an unchecked box next to these words:

Yes, I agree to receive text messages from Advanced Underground Utility Locating (AUUL) about my utility locating jobs: appointment confirmations and reminders, schedule changes, on-the-way updates and billing notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

Links to our Text Messaging Terms and Privacy Policy are directly below the box. The form can't be sent without the box ticked. We store the number, the time and the exact words shown.

(b) Billing setup form (business customers)

New business customers get an email from AUUL with a private link to our billing setup form at https://fieldops.auulinc.com/ap-setup. The link is private because the form is filled in with that company's details, so opening the address without it only says the link isn't complete. The screenshots below show the form with sample company data. Near the end, under "Text messages (optional)", is an unchecked box next to these words:

Yes, I agree to receive text messages from Advanced Underground Utility Locating (AUUL) at the AP contact phone above about our utility locating jobs: appointment confirmations and reminders, schedule changes, on-the-way updates and billing notices. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

The same Terms and Privacy Policy links are directly below it. Only if the box is ticked do we record consent for the accounts payable contact's phone, with the time and the exact words shown. The form can be sent with the box unticked. After ticking it, they get our opt-in text (below).

(c) By phone (verbal), confirmed by text

When a customer schedules work by phone and gives a mobile number, our office reads this script word for word:

"Can we text you appointment confirmations and updates about this job at this number? Message frequency varies, message and data rates may apply, and you can reply STOP anytime."

How it's recorded

The confirmation text

A new tick sends this text to the customer, once, about two minutes later (or the next morning if it is during quiet hours, 9pm-7am), so every verbal yes is also confirmed in writing and can be undone by replying STOP:

AUUL: Thanks for agreeing to job texts from Advanced Underground Utility Locating. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

(d) Text START

Anyone can text START (or UNSTOP) to (509) 355-9337. This number is shown on the web form and on our Text Messaging Terms. They get this reply:

AUUL: You're signed up for job texts from Advanced Underground Utility Locating. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply HELP for help, STOP to opt out.

The same text confirms a sign-up on the web form (a) and the billing setup form (b).
